Review
On wet hair I use it slick my edges down and the front on my hair down. This product so far is the only pomade that has been able to tame my frizzies in the front. The smell is intoxicating, like pancakes with sugar. It only takes a smidgen of product and one jar will last you for a long time. It is very thick so it might be wise to warm it up a little by rubbing your palms together with the product in between them. I really like thick products and this one is great!
The Oyin Handmade store is 35 minutes away from me, so it is very convenient to be able to go to the store to avoid shipping costs and wait times. However, I have heard that their wait times for shipping products can be 2-3 weeks. If I didn't live near the Oyin store, perhaps this might be a problem for me. You can always order from Curlmart.com, but the product will not be as fresh as getting it straight from Oyin. I know that handmade products may take a while to ship, due to everything being made fresh. But I have seen other reviews where Oyin's customer service seems questionable in regards to communication issues.
The Verdict
I give it 5/5 stars for my hair. It slicks back my hair like no other, smells great, and I can pick it up from their store on Saturdays from 12-7.
I used this when Oyin first introduced this product. I used to use it on twists. For whatever reason, I moved away from it. I think because I like Asha's The Mane Attraction. But I didn't have anything bad to say about this. I loved the smell, too.
ReplyDeleteWow, I have not tried Asha's. I think what keeps me away from her line is that I can not see images on her site of her products. For some reason it makes me feel uncomfortable.
ReplyDeleteHer site needs major upgrades. I've been using Mane Attraction since 2006, and the site has yet to change. LOL! Lots of things still say "pics coming soon." There actually is a picture of the container of MA, but not the actual butter. It's sort of off white in color, pretty thick. It doesn't have a wet consistency, if that makes sense. From her I've tried MA, the rosemary green tea leave in (which was good, but smells strong), and the sun kissed pomade (I figured out early on that I'm not a pomade person in that sense).
ReplyDeleteEverything was good, but I've just stuck with the MA for my twists/twist outs. The only thumbs down she gets from me is the same thing with Oyin and Qhemet and others - they make it fresh so it takes a while before you get it. I generally buy the MA in bulk.
